Dr Spencer initially studied physiology and pharmacology at Southampton University. He stayed on to complete a PhD in neuroscience before moving to Bristol University to study medicine, where he qualified in 1990.
He conducted his specialist GP training in North Cumbria, before becoming a partner in Caldbeck in 1996.
His interests include GP training, therapeutics and pre-hospital care.
